Using historical facts and their artistic versatility, the duo accompanies the Spanish conqueror Pedro de Mendoza to the Rio della Plata, where they metaphorically celebrate the foundation and naming of the Argentine capital together with the audience.
During their first concert three years ago, Duo Perfetto brought the audience of a Sardinian Jazz club to ecstasy by playing Tschaikowsky and Bach. They realised that they were at the start of a wondersful path when they consistently came first (throughout all five rounds) at an International chamber music competitiion TIM. 'Two bodies - one soul!'! This is how Rolando Nicolosi describes Duo Perfetto, where
the breathtaking musicality of the pianist from Neapel combines in extraordinary harmony with the fascinating sound and the unbelievable virtuosity of the cellist from Dresden. Since that time, Clorinda Perfetto and Robert Witt have performed their four CD s for piano and cello in over 150 concerts in Europe and South America as well as on radio/television on RAI Radio3 ect.
'Bonaria- Buenos Aires' (LimenMusic) is their latest CD on which the imitate percussion and Launeddas
(Sardinian triple pipe) on their instruments as well as including Argentinian tango and Sardinian poetry.
The incredible but true story of the Andalusian conqueror Pedro de Mendoza, who conquered the delta of the Rio della Plata in 1535 and, under the pressure of his Sardinian and Spanish sailors, named the city to be founded here after the patron saint of Sardinia. Bonaria is today a district in Cagliari (capital of Sardinia), with a church and a monastery on a hill above the beach. There is a small wooden statue in the church - "La Nostra Signora di Bonaria" from which the Argentine capital was named - because the sailors wanted it to like that. With determination and a lot of singing they prevailed against their captain - this is what historians tell us and this is how the duo Perfetto sings about the true legend with Sardinian, Spanish and Argentine music.
"Da Bonaria a Buenos Aires" is a project of the 'Sardinian Cultural Center Berlin'.
We thank the "Regione Autonoma della Sardegna" for the friendly support.
