This year we are using International Jazz Day from the 28th to 30th of April to launch our year-long special WorldJazz@WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN:
HOMAGE SESSION
Conceived of by Herbie Hancock and organised for the first time in 2011 by UNESCO for the 30th of April, International Jazz Day has quickly developed into an event celebrated worldwide. The WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN has been organising an annual concert in honour of International Jazz Day since 2013. This year we are using International Jazz Day from the 28th to 30th of April to launch our year-long special WorldJazz@WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN!
At this year’s INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY we are celebrating South African Freedom Day with the kick-off of our new concert series Homage Session, featuring the music of jazz legend Hugh Masekela who was intensely engaged in the struggle against the Apartheid. The music will be accompanied by our newly-founded in-house ensemble, the Little Big Band.

After our participation in International Jazz Day last year, we got mail from Herbie Hancock!
