What distinguishes this Metropol Orchestra, and what makes it a new kind of orchestra, is, in addition to the artistry of the performers – which is of course only natural with this line-up – is the fact that no undefinable multicultural sound is created that presents the musicians’ cultural origins as exotic. Instead, the individual timbres become a new and unique musical style. The roots are still recognisable, for why should they be denied or kept hidden? But they become a more and more distant memory, that reverberate in a new sound in a new home, that could only be created in Germany here in the metropolitan city of Berlin.
