I Tamar Magradze - Au-Pair, 2014, 6 min.

As the economic situation in Georgia is far behind Western European standards, majorities of the population are unable to engage and realize themselves in social and civic activities. In a situation like this, the young generation for whom their prospects do not exceed ironic promises of political parties during elections, migration seems the only solution.

The film shows one of these well adapted strategies, mostly used by young women under-25, who want to participate in a one-year cultural exchange program, in order to avoid financial requirements and exhausting bureaucracy associated with migration to Europe for study or other reasons. Once accepted on this cultural program, they appear in various European cities and that’s the point when they realize their expectations have not met reality.
