Trio Fado

Portuguese Blues 

An evening of Portuguese nostalgia and melancholy! Fado, a quintessential Portuguese musical tradition, is an urban and emotional type of music that was understandably included by UNESCO on their list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The musicians of Trio Fado connect the city of Berlin, where they live, with Portugal, their common home. Maria Carvalho delves into the profound songs of Fado with her voice of longing. António de Brito emphasizes the masculine version of Fado with a strong and smokey timbre. With his cello arrangements, Benjamin Walbrodt gives an Argentine, classical note to the Fado evening.

Guest Musician Ivo Guedes creates a sound indespensible to Fado on a 12-string Guitarra Portuguesa, which flatters the accompanying vocals.
