Eva Atmatzidou

The first modern fingerstyle acoustic guitarist and composer from Greece that has been signed with the leading American record label Candyrat Records.

On May 2016 she released her debut solo acoustic guitar album "TRENOVA" with her original compositions reaching over 1.000.000 hits on Facebook and Youtube.

Her music has been characterized unique and cinematic. Fresh ideas, innovative hybrid and extended guitar techniques, imaginative and creative use of effects (no loops or overdubbing) are compined in her composition within a very personal sound and feeling, exploring various and diverse musical soundscapes.

Her debut album "Trenova" includes compositions for solo acoustic and 12string guitar and it is the result of a three year experimental period, when very different music idioms and influences met each other on her guitar fingerboard.

In her concerts these first compositions find a brand new place between her new ideas, compositions and experiments on guitar and between sharing the stories and the feelings that created them.

Songs and dances from all over Greece

Through the aesthetics of Greek music, three women carry the sonic diversity of Greece with their voices and instruments, which results from the variety of the landscape and the mixture of various cultural elements. The musicians, who have a connection with traditional as well as improvised music, interpret songs of the tradition and radiate the original atmosphere of the songs in a new context. The traditional instruments, violin, clarinet and bag pipe are blended with the western piano, respecting the past while delivering a fresh approach to the music.

Songs and dances from all over Greece. Bainduska from Thrace, Karsilamas from Macedonia, mourning songs from Epirus, healing melodies from the islands, forbidden Rebetiko from Piraeus, immigration songs, Syrtos from Crete and finally the incomparable colour of the love songs from Istanbul and Minor Asia.

  • Maria Koltsida | Piano, Voice, Percussion
  • Penelope Gkika | Violin
  • Evgenia Pantazoglou | Greek bag pipe, clarinet

The Duo Gkika - de Kol (Greece) has been collaborating musically over the last six years in projects with a wide range of genres and aesthetic approaches. Worth mentioning is the extensive research done by the duo on the aesthetic, the origin, the purpose and the representation of traditional Greek music through their band Reverse Mode, the ensemble Kompania and various other projects and performances related to this music. A year ago they met Evgenia Pantazoglou (Greece), who enriched the ensemble with an inherently traditional instrument, the Greek bag pipe, and the clarinet. Together they share a common vision of aesthetic and intention.
