Fadfadah-Workshop für geflüchtete Frauen aus arabischen Ländern

The workshop took place at the WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN under the direction of Dr. Marwa Abidou.

“Fadfadah” means: to let off steam, to get something off one’s chest. Arab refugees from Middle Eastern countries have terrible experiences behind them, which have barely been processed: war, violence, displacement, flight and homelessness. To talk about these experiences openly is very difficult, especially for women. That’s why we offer a workshop for Arab female refugees at the Werkstatt der Kulturen. Women can talk openly about their experiences with war, displacement from their homeland and asylum in Germany and exchange stories with each other. If they wish, they are also supported to plan performances and, if appropriate, to carry these performances out. If they simply want to talk, or just be there, that is also absolutely ok.

The workshop is led by Dr. Marwa Abidou, theatre academic and managing director of von Zati - Zentrum für arabisches Theater und Interkulturalität Berlin.

(Refugee) Arab or German-Arab theatre practitioners or other creative artists can contact Zati e.V. in order to become part of the network.

The organisation promotes:
* theatre exchange between Germany and Arab countries
* refugees in Germany to express themselves, opportunities and experiences through performances
* networking between Arab theatre practitioners in Germany and their integration in the German cultural scene
