Three Winners - Three Sets - One Concert
The creole Award is the competition for global sounds! As Germany's only World Music Competition, creole presents talented musicians, bands and ensembles that provide the soundtrack for a pluralistic society influenced by migration and transculturality using new musical languages.
creole is about distinctive musical diversity, fusions resulting from migration and transculturality and the coolest musical developments of the 21st century - and last but not least, of course, it is also about the exciting multiple day music contest bringing together the best Global Beat bands of the Republic on one stage!
In November 2015, the following artists were awarded 2000 Euros and the World Music Award for the 5th creole Berlin Brandenburg:
- THOMAS KOLARCZYK ENSEMBLE
- DUO AL-KHAYYAT & THIELE
- NASSER KILADA RANIN
All three of these exceptional acts will be performing on 9 April 2016 from 8 PM onward at the creole Award Winners Concert at the WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN. A pleasure to the ear!
At 6:00 PM, prior to the concert, musician and host Aziza A. will be leading a panel discussion with Ayberk Coskun (Konservatorium für türkische Musik Berlin) and Andreas Freudenberg (Global Music Academy) as well as the panel of judges from the 5th creole Berlin Brandenburg Björn Döring (Reeperbahn Festival), Natascha Roth (Hochschule der populären Künste) and Peer Steinwald (Budde Music) on the influence of Turkish and Arab folk and pop music on popular music in Germany.
