Black Kat & Kittens

blues, gospel, folk and soul sounds - more than a hundred years of African-American music history

Black Kat & Kittens is undoubtedly one of the most unique bands of the current blues scene. The Berlin-based trio combines down home blues, gospel, folk and soul sounds to an existing traditional and original compositions program that takes the listener on a journey in a time when music was still handmade and came from the deepest soul.

With wit and charm, but especially with her expressive voice, Lorraine Lowe leads the audience through more than a hundred years of African-American music history. Her voice is borne of intense singing an Englishwoman with Jamaican roots, with strong interplay of her two companions.

Adam Sikora presents himself not only as an excellent harp player, but also takes up occasionally the flute and percussion instruments - such as the African Calabashi.

Last but not least the extraordinary Berlin guitarist and multi-instrumentalist (including mandolin and violin) Simon Dahl makes up the result of their dynamic sound, this makes Black Kat & Kittens sound distinctive.

With Special guest Nicholas Morrison on guitars and African Bongo, Nick has spent quite some time in Senegal closely working with musicians there he also built his bongo there and performs with two very wonderful African bands.
