Abdourahmane G. Diop stammt aus einer bedeutenden Griot-Familie. Der Beruf des Griots hat eine 1000-jährige Tradition. Als wandelndes Archiv, Lobredner, Chronist, Troubadour und Historiker steht Diop mit seiner Griot Music Company für einen unvergleichlichen Stil aus Percussions, Mbalax, Funk und Jazz - und gilt deshalb als Godfather der Berliner Global Music Szene.
