Imitations of life

This series of films traces the historical journey of Africans both on the continent and in the diaspora as they negotiate the 1930s and 1940s.

Branwen Okpako: "I have tried to select films that portray these experiences either directly or indirectly from an African or African-Diaspora perspective.Those who attend all seven screenings will gain a unique understanding of the times and of the shifting images and issues that dominated those times for black people. I will endeavor to instigate discussion after the screening with the audience and guests with a particular insight on the films or their subject matter."
