The death of Fidel Castro, and the decision of Obama to end the "wet foot, dry foot policy" put the Cuban Community (on the island and abroad) in the middle of one perfect storm. Now more than ever, it is necessary to explore where the Black Cuban Community is heading.

Yoel Diaz Vazquez invited 39 young Cuban rappers to speak their mind about Cuban society today through sung interventions filmed in their own domestic settings. This is a representation of a young generation whose voices, through their critical urban poetry, express the discontent, frustration, helplessness and lack of perspective in Cuba. His aim is to draw attention to the social impact of their significance as groups, and to their demands.

A Cuban musician who lives in NYC. He belonged to La Nueva Trova, a movement in the beginning of the 60s in Cuba created to support the Revolution with a group of young songwriters.

Cuban Music in Berlin
24 minutes, Dir: Ricardo Bacallao, English Subtitles
A premiere of one of the Cuban Music in Berlin trilogy documentaries, this is the first one. A well known Cuban musician in Berlin, Diogenes Nodarse who lives in Berlin for almost 40 years, came at the time of the DDR and became a professional musician after the Berlin Wall fall.
